Mobs and Masquerades

2017

Writer / Director / Producer / Production Designer / Co-Editor / Sound Designer

Mobs and Masquerades was my first music video ever. Filmed in 2015 for LA band Paradiso, this was an incredible learning experience. The band wanted to do something highly visual and theatrical, without performing their instruments. Inspired by Plato’s “Allegory of the Cave,” the story begins with the band and two groups of modern dancers confined to cubic space. Gradually, the abstract forms express an increasing tension with their surroundings and eventually tear through the walls to merge into one unit with the band. My goal was to guide the spectator through different “planes of reality” and to leave us thinking at the end.
